Semester Exemptions
Exemption letters will go out this week. They will go out Tuesday, January 5th, starting after 2nd period by grade level.
Forms will be due back Friday, January 8 by 9:00 a.m. Students must make sure that they turn the form in on time. NO LATE FORMS will be accepted.
All forms must be signed by a parent or guardian and permission must be obtained in order to leave campus.
Students who have an 85 average or higher for a specific class and no more than three absences, or students who have between an 80 and 84 average for a specific class and no absences, will be allowed to be exempted from such class’ semester exam.
A student can exempt up to three semester exams for this first semester of the 2020-21 school year.
Please note that a student cannot enjoy such semester exam exemption privileges in a specific class, if he/she is not passing for the second nine weeks and/or the first semester.
A student will be allowed to exempt one or more additional semester exam(s) if he/she meets the STAAR End-of-Course benchmarking passing standard for any given tested subject matter.
Please note that semester exam exemptions based on these criteria will be offered at the discretion of the corresponding teacher(s).
All students are required to be present each semester exam testing day during the second period roll call. FAILURE TO SHOW UP FOR SECOND PERIOD ROLL CALL WILL RESULT IN LOSS OF SEMESTER TEST EXEMPTIONS.
If a student is exempt from taking a given semester exam, he/she may leave after roll call with parent permission.
All students will continue to be required to sign in and out at the office (no parent sign-outs over the phone).
A student needs to meet the campus’ dress code expectations, even if such student will only be showing up for second period
Students who do not show up to take their semester exams will be counted absent and receive a zero “0” as their test grade.
