man I'm really hungry I think I think I'm craving eggs I think I'm going to make an egg sandwich actually let me see if we have some let's see let's see eggs eggs what the heck you have got be kidding me now I have to go to the store it's our delicious and inexpensive source of protein and other nutrients selecting eggs from the store involves inspecting their physical characteristics their surroundings and the conditions which they are collected choosing high-quality eggs will make your cooking more flavorful and nutritious as well as more visually appealing so have you ever gone to the store and were warmed by the amount of different eggs well from this video I think you can see I have hi my name is Jacob Lopez and welcome back to Jacobs Kraken tips today I'm going to be talking about 3 different types of eggs conventional organic and Pastor Grace I'm also going to be explaining what details and what factors you should think about when you're picking your eggs from the grocery store so with all that let's get cracking on these eggs first let's talk about conventional eggs conventional eggs often come from hand that have been kept in small cages and crowded facilities also conventional eggs often come from hens that have eaten a diet of corn soy and cotton seed meal which is then filled with commercial additives conventional eggs are safe to eat and still make a good choice of protein however many researchers believe that eggs from chickens raised in these conditions are naturally inferior now let's talk about organic organic eggs labeled by the USDA come from chickens that are kept in cage-free with outdoor access these chickens have not had any antibiotics and need a diet free of animal byproducts in addition the hands diets cannot contain crops grown with chemical pesticides fertilizers irrigation genetic engineering or sewage sludge and finally let's talk about pastured raised eggs hence that our pastor raised are not only cage-free but are also given access to the outdoors this simply means that the hands had the option to go outside to ensure that you want to eat truly pastured eggs purchase eggs from pasture chickens pastured hens often eat diets that include green seeds worms and bugs which are more akin to a natural chicken's diet Studies have shown that eggs from pastured hands may have more omega-3 fatty acids more vitamins and less fat and cholesterol so from hearing all that which eggs would you want to eat now I want to talk about some key details you should look for when you're looking for your ex some key details would be the terms like all-natural and cage-free the US do the USDA or the Department of Agriculture always verifies each egg to make sure it is good in quality for us when you're looking for this detail you always want to make sure each egg carton has this shield with signifies the USDA has processed these eggs and made sure the good for consumption another key detail you should look for is the expiration date over time the yolk will begin to take water from the egg whites making them thin and loose during this process the yolk will become easier to break even in the egg so this is why it's important to make sure the expiration date isn't bad but it's also important you should have your eggs to 3 to 5 weeks even after you purchase it and after the expiration date after those 5 weeks then the eggs are considered bad and you should not eat them another detail I'd like to talk about is choosing the appropriate grade egg great AA eggs have thick firm whites and large brown yolks this grade of egg is virtually free of defects and is best for frying poaching or other cooking applications where the appearance of the egg matters however most stores sell great acts which are all these right here you could tell these are great Axe by reading the label grade Acts these eggs are the same quality as grade double axe except that the whites are categorized as reasonable firm BX are found in retail stores because they are used to make liquid Frozen and dry egg products a key detail you want to look for when you're picking your eggs is to see if your eggs are clean or cracked this is because salmonella can be on your eggs and and if their eggs are cracked they're not going to be good to eat for consumption as you can see this egg right here is not clean this is an example of what you should look for for picking your eggs so this carton I would not pick I hope this video makes you a little bit less chicken when it comes to picking your eggs from the grocery store thank you for watching Jacobs cracking tips and have a good day
