This web page will be utilized for posting of daily class activities/assignments and any notes from class.  

Copies of assignments may be found either in the daily work folders on the bulletin board OR the class drawers underneath the bulletin board.

Course Description:  Professional Communications blends written, oral, and graphic communication in a career-based environment. Careers in the global economy require individuals to be creative and have a strong background in computer and technology applications, a strong and solid academic foundation, and a proficiency in professional oral and written communication. Within this context, students will be expected to develop and expand the ability to write, read, edit, speak, listen, apply software applications, manipulate computer graphics, and conduct Internet research.

 

Course Objectives:

  1. The student applies English language arts in professional communications projects.
  2. The student applies professional communications strategies.
  3. The student understands and examines problem-solving methods. The student is expected to employ critical-thinking and interpersonal skills independently and in teams to solve problems.
  4. The student applies information technology applications. The student is expected to use personal information management, email, Internet, writing and publishing, presentation, and spreadsheet or database applications for professional communications projects
  5. The student understands communications systems.
  6. The student applies safety regulations. The student is expected to implement personal and classroom safety rules and regulations.
  7. The student develops leadership characteristics. The student is expected to participate in student leadership and professional development activities.
  8. The student applies ethical decision making and understands and complies with laws regarding use of technology in communications.
  9. The student applies technical skills for efficiency. The student is expected to employ planning and time-management skills to relate to professional communications.
  10. The student develops an understanding of professional communications through exploration of the career cluster.

You and your parent/guardian need to read over the Class Guidelines brochure.  After reading it, both you and your parent/guardian need to sign somewhere on the brochure and send it back to Ms. Srp.  This is a daily grade.  If it is not turned in by the end of your class period on Friday, September 7th, it WILL be a zero.
